Smoking Addiction

Although smoking addiction is legal, common, and socially accepted, it is also one of the addictions with the most severe health effects and the highest difficulty to quit. There are many options to take when deciding to quit smoking;  some people try to quit “cold turkey,” while others decide to take such avenues as hypnotherapy, acupuncture or supplements.  When you combine more than one of these methods together, they can have a powerful effect on overcoming the desire to smoke. At Passages Malibu, we help many of our clients quit smoking in addition to quitting their other addictions.  According to the June 2008 issue of the Harvard Medical School Mental Health Letter, people who are dependent on alcohol are also likely to smoke cigarettes. Many doctors, researchers, and addiction experts believe that it is important to encourage individuals with alcohol addiction to give up smoking in addition to drinking; not just for the obvious health benefits, but also to increase their chances of staying sober by removing all negative addictive behaviors. Statistically, the most effective method shown to quit smoking is hypnosis.  Hypnosis is a deep state of focus and calm where underlying and unwanted behaviors are removed, and then replaced with new, healthy patterns of behavior.
